On Saturday, October 31st, at 6:00 pm, at the “Gianni Bellini” Civic Museum of Art and Territory in Sarnico, journalist and documentary filmmaker Simona Duci will share the story of the expedition undertaken by Nikolai Vavilov—the Russian scientist who dedicated his life to researching and preserving the seeds of cultivated plants.
The presentation of the novel “Radici. Il cammino di Vavilov” (“Roots: Vavilov’s Journey”), inspired by this endeavor, will serve as a starting point to explore the connection between the expedition, the scientist’s research, and the narrative that emerged from that journey.
Simona Duci will present and discuss her field reportage and travel recollections—covering the mountains, villages, encounters, and landscapes traversed in search of ancient seeds and stories rooted in biodiversity.
It is an intense experience, sparked by a curiosity about Vavilov’s work, which evolved into a journey into the heart of Kyrgyzstan—amidst remote landscapes and pressing, contemporary questions regarding the future of our food and the urgent need to protect what we risk losing.
Free admission with reservation via Eventbrite.
