Sarnico-Colli S.Fermo-Lago d’Endine-Sarnico
This car route (also recommended by bike for the more trained) starts from Sarnico (a historic center intersected by alleys and full of churches, remains of medieval buildings, and beautiful Art Nouveau villas).
Continuing along the provincial road towards Bergamo, you meet Villongo where, taking the direction of Adrara, you reach the ancient rural structure of Castel Merlo, in the hamlet of S. Alessandro (Romanesque church of the same name).
It then reaches, first Adrara San Martino, the rural center of prehistoric origins and important in the Middle Ages (remains of the castle on the hill Ducone), then, through a road that starts from the square, Adrara San Rocco (rural village and parish sixteenth).
After this center, the road goes up to the panoramic Colli di San Fermo, a favorite place for lovers of free flight, but also full of beautiful blooms of daffodils and gentians. In the direction of the opposite side of the hills, then descend to Grone (a village with important buildings and rich portals, Parish Church that rises on a panoramic spur overlooking the Val Cavallina).
Four kilometers of trees lead to Casazza, an important center divided into several nuclei of ancient origin from which you reach Lake Endine, a small lake paradise for fishermen. Taking the detour to the right you reach Monasterolo del Castello (maze of medieval streets, Church SS. Salvatore XVII sec. on the ruins of an ancient monastery).
Continuing in one of the most evocative environments you reach S. Felice al Lago, a charming hamlet of Endine, in whose territory is also Piangaiano with the lake of Gaiano. Here you must stop to visit the Cold Valley, perhaps the most interesting and unique natural phenomenon of the entire Bergamo area.
It is a depression about 600 m long. which, at 360 m. high, grow plants and flowers typical of the high mountains for a particular structure of the subsoil-dentine in which, in winter, large blocks of ice are formed.
In summer the air passing through these blocks comes out of a series of holes at very low temperatures allowing the flowering of vegetation typical of harsher climates (visits allowed on Saturday and Sunday in the months of May, June, and July).
Once you reach the summer holiday centers of Esmate and Solto Collina, go down towards Riva di Solto and find the road that, turning right, runs along the lake to Sarnico.
